TITLE: Reproductive Health Medical Officer

Job Summary
Reporting to the PMTC & Reproductive Health Director/DTA, the Reproductive Health (RH) Medical officers will work on the cervical cancer prevention services. They will provide technical assistance on the integration of reproductive cancers (cervix, Breast) prevention into existing health systems. S/he will work with the district team on cervical cancer prevention program and will work in the daily running of the cervical cancer prevention center
They will be involved in trainings that focus on reproductive health and scaling up of services especially on cervical cancer prevention services.
The reproductive health technical officer will work closely with the existing foundation staff to integrate RH services into existing HIV services in Lesotho
Responsibilities
- Provide screening, evaluation and treatment for premalignant lesion of the cervix
- Offer training and supportive supervisions to other health care providers in the districts during scaling up of the program
- Review screening procedures, results of screening and provide appropriates diagnostics/treatment or referral for best treatment outcomes
- Provide cryotherapy, biopsy and or Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) for pre-cancers of cervix as needful.
- Follow up clients appropriately depending on clinical conditions of clients
- Facilitates logistics that are essential for effective cervical cancer screening
- To provide basic medical services to client (seeking screening for cervical cancer) and to be able to provide referral and linkages with appropriate health facilities and specialties
- To provide support to health care providers on integration of reproductive cancers preventions programs into existing health care services
- Support capacity building of health care workers in Lesotho on reproductive health services
- Support their respective DHMT/region in planning and implementation of RH programs and services
- Support in the planning, implementation and evaluation of reproductive health service delivery activities
- Participate in the tracking, monitoring and documentation of technical achievement and evaluation of cervical cancer prevention activities in regard to access, quality and service delivery impact in collaboration with partners
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports to EGPAF
- Liaise with counterparts in other EGPAF supported programs, sharing lessons learned and working to strengthen EGPAF supported MOH programs.
- Work in a professional manner and maintain good relationships with site staff, program staff and colleagues in the MOH
- May be delegated to represent EGPAF in meetings at district or national levels as required
- Participate regularly in all the EGPAF staff and technical meetings.
- Do other duties and responsibilities that may be assign by the senior management team of the foundation
- Work under the supervision of EGPAF district Technical advisors in the district
Required Qualifications
Medical Degree (MBBS/MBChB),
A master’s degree in public health will be an added advantage
Working in HIV program
Experience in RH issues in the context of HIV and AIDS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated experience in programs relating to HIV, MNCH and cervical cancer screening
Have basic gynecological surgical experience
Good program management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Technical expertise in Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS programs
Good writing skills, excellent communication skills
Willing to travel in country and in the region
