Coordinate training schedules for competitive sporting codes that are partaking in external leagues. Coordinate mass participation activities for the campus. Ensure the participation of Sport within the broader programs of the Campus.

The position is also responsible for overseeing execution of all clubs programs and events on campus. Including the student sports and recreational programs. This position serves as a liaison between the clubs, residences, SRC internal stakeholders and pertinent external entities and ensures that campus sport is operating within the University, UJ Sports and Federation policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operational financial management of SWC sports entity in line with university financial policies.
  • Growing, maintaining skills and knowledge in the fields of sport and recreation
  • To support teaching, learning as well as fostering skills development and transfer in our campus programs.
  • Continuous development and implementation of a supportable integrated sport plan on campus.
  • Afford support to managers organizing Varsity Cup and Varsity Sport.
  • Ensure a desired and student-centred sport experience (recreational) through the provision of participation opportunities and professional services.
  • Ensure development and maintenance of key relationships with internal (UJ) and external stakeholders.
  • Seek donations assistance from alumni Sustainable development of fundraising strategies in partnership with advancement.
  • Deliver a desired student experience through sport participation on and off the field.
  • Engage with communities through sport and movement initiatives.
  • Liaise with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.
  • Global Excellence and Stature through participation and hosting of international events.
  • Bachelor’s Degree/ B. Tech or any relevant qualification (NQF 7), preferably with a major in sports management
  • Two (2) to three (3) years working experience in sport Administration
  • Up to date knowledge of health and safety and sports related safety measures.
  • Computer literate and familiar with the MS Office suite.
  • Basic financial management and good reporting writing skills
  • A valid driver’s licence
