The SPIE International Day of Light Photo Contest is held annually to raise awareness about the International Day of Light and to demonstrate the impact that light has on cultural, economic, and political aspects of our world. Amateur and professional photographers alike are encouraged to submit photos for a chance to win cash prizes.
The theme is: A world of light: the vital role that light and light-based technologies play in daily life.
Each person may submit a maximum of two photos. Photographers age 13 to 17 should submit their images to the Youth Photo Contest.
There is no entry fee.

Open to anyone worldwide.
Prize
• 1st prize: 2,500 USD
• 2nd prize: 1,000 USD
• 3rd prize: 500 USD
• Two Technology and Science Prizes: 750 USD each
• Youth category (ages 13 – 17): Surprise gift box of SPIE merchandise
