Inclusion of professionals in agriculture and related fields in the SPGRC Think Tank Database

The SADC Plant Genetic Resources Centre (SPGRC) is a unit under the Food Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANR) of the SADC Secretariat. It is responsible for the coordination of conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources in the SADC region. SPGRC works in Member States through its partners the National Plant Genetic Resources Centres (NPGRCs) or National Genebanks. The programme of plant genetic resources conservation entails handling germplasm under different conditions and at different stages of the conservation process and genebank/plant genetic resources conservation staff capacity building. It also includes data generation, storage, analysis and drawing inferences and conclusions from generated data. SPGRC wishes to create a database of professionals or Consultancy Institutions from SADC Member States specializing in the below listed disciplines from time to time to partner with in its different research and agricultural activities.

  1. Conservation of plant genetic resources/Genebanking
  2. Plant Biotechnology
  3. Plant Breeding
  4. Seed Science and Technology
  5. Plant Pathology/Crop Protection
  6. Entomology
  7. Biometrics/Research Methods/Experimental Designs
  8. Seed Systems
  9. Total Quality Management
  10. Genebank/ Plant Genetic Resources Conservation Quality Management
  11. Plant Genetic Resources (PGR) Information Management
  12. Database administration

 

SPGRC is, therefore, inviting individual professionals or Consultancy Groups to submit their CVs or Company profiles for inclusion in the database as explained above for future consideration for various relevant activities that may arise within our organization from time to time.

Individuals must provide the following for them to be registered:

  1. Certified copies of all relevant academic qualifications
  2. Certified copies of valid passport
  3. At least three references whose tasks where done in the last 5 years.

Consultancy Companies should provide

  1. Company profiles
  2. Tax Clearance Certificates
  3. CVs of individuals in the campany who will be handling specific disciplines which the company wishes to be registered for
  4. Three references whose tasks were done in the last 5 years.

All notifications concerning this procurement process, including cancellation notices, will be published on the following website www.sadc.int and will also be communicated directly to the respondents.
