Objectives of the Position:

Mercedes-Benz South Africa is looking for a Specialist Legal who will provide assistance, as may be required, to the Legal Manager and the Company Secretary in relation to general legal, governance and compliance support service to the various companies within MBSA. Supporting with projects, corporate governance, all commercial transactions, regulatory compliance as well as product liability and consumer protection act claims in compliance to the Company’s Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes.

Main Tasks:

Legal advice /Contracts /recommendations: Accurate and appropriate at all times, offers minimal risk or prejudice towards the Company and all relevant information provided. Managing of contract management system.

Corporate Governance and Office Support: Provide assistance and support to the Company Secretary, Board of Directors and the Legal Manager to support in all corporate governance, legal and other requirement as well as office administration such as managing payments i.e. to suppliers, travel arrangements and other office arrangements.

Signed-off external/internal contracts: Accurate in line with agreed upon terms, facilitated through meetings held to discuss and negotiate relevant terms.

Correspondence: Incorporates litigation matters concluded timeously, drafts aligned to customer complaints/ dissatisfaction with due consideration of legal and business requirements includes detailed subject matter obtained from relevant department under signature.

Communication and feedback: Open communication channels internally and externally facilitates customer satisfaction, all reports to relevant management and clients as per agreed process and in agreed format.

Toscar controls: Compliance of all business operations/processes according to set policies. Responsible for the performance, maintenance and reporting of ICS controls.

Self-Development: Keep abreast of local industry developments, legal precedents relating to the financial services organisations etc.

Qualifications

Qualification:

  • M+3 year, BCom Law or LLB degree

  • Admitted attorney in South Africa
