The Specialist: Financial Systems is responsible for administering, maintaining and supporting M-Pesa systems. S/he must assess feasibility, impact & cost, and address all processes/workflow components to assure that all functional specifications and standards are met on the M-Pesa system. Furthermore, the resource must continually assess the performance and capacity of the system and implement improvements

The resource acts as liaison between the M-Pesa Business unit, all technical units and 3rd party suppliers supporting M-Pesa, ensuring the system is always available & running efficiently. Lastly,  is required to meet M-Pesa system performance KPIs as set by the business.

Job Responsibility

  • To perform technical requirements in terms of feasibility, impact, cost, integration, & alignment to technology for products requirements and services sustainability, and develop the best technical solution that addresses those business needs
  • Develop Technical Recovery Procedures (TRPs) for m-pesa systems and ensure they are tested in line with approved test schedule
  • Provide systems capacity management plans and reports that clearly show the resources usage and the growth patterns for near future
  • Develop a comprehensive up to date technical and logical architecture for all m-pesa systems
  • Fosters relationships with all stakeholders by facilitating forums/technical discussions and ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are informed of key technical developments, as well as gaining context for business drivers and buy-in to facilitate transitions
  • To act as a bridge/intermediary between commercial & technical units including external stakeholders to ensure that products, services, systems, applications, etc. are launched effectively on the system as per business requirements and ensure support model is smooth across
  • Drives new projects in terms on m-pesa technical operations support and provide guidance in that regard
  • Responsible for day to day technical operation, maintenance and support activities of m-pesa system
  • Identifies and manages project work stream risks/issues, develops mitigation plans, and communicates progress to the Product Manager and team members

Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in BSc Computer Science (or similar tertiary qualifications)
  • 2 to 3 years systems support and IT service management experience
  • Experience in administration, maintenance, and support of financial systems
  • Experience in understanding of integration of multiple different systems and APIs
