Sort House Operator / Diamond Evaluator Vacancy

About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate sorting, cleaning, weighing, grading, and valuation of rough diamonds according to established procedures and standards. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, integrity, and strict adherence to security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, record, and prepare rough diamonds for processing and evaluation.
- Clean rough diamonds using appropriate methods and equipment.
- Sort diamonds based on size, shape, color, and clarity.
- Accurately weigh and record diamond parcels.
- Grade and classify rough diamonds using industry standards and company guidelines (e.g., sieve sizes, color charts, inclusion guides).
- Identify and separate different qualities and types of rough diamonds.
- Assist in valuation by applying knowledge of diamond characteristics and market values.
- Maintain accurate records of all diamonds sorted and evaluated.
- Follow all security procedures and report discrepancies or concerns immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the sort house.
- Strictly follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Participate in training to improve grading and evaluation skills.
- Assist in inventory control and reconciliation of diamond stock.
- Collaborate with team members, including security and buyers.
Qualifications and Experience
- LGCSE/COSC; a Diploma in Gemology or a related field is an advantage.
- A diamond dealing license is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of rough diamond grading and valuation.
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- High accuracy in handling and recording data.
- Ability to identify flaws and different qualities of diamonds.
- Understanding of diamond security and confidentiality.
- Good record-keeping and basic numeracy/literacy.
- Able to work independently and in a team.
- Willingness to follow strict protocols.
