LESOTHO ELECTRICITY GENERATION COMPANY (LEGCO)
Lesotho Electricity Generation Company (LEGCO) is a statutory body registered under Companies Act of 2011, Registration No. 70536 to manage sustainable electricity generation in Lesotho. The primary objective of LEGCO is to develop and implement a systematic, well-planned development of power generation infrastructure in Lesotho using hydro, solar and wind resources for meeting local electricity requirements and also trading in energy with other Southern Africa Community Countries (SADC), while guaranteeing energy sovereignty and security for Lesotho.
LEGCO is fully supported and capacitated in the development and construction of power generating plants to meet the current and future electricity demands for the country, particularly in solar, hydro and wind.
LEGCO therefore invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions on a fixed-term contract.

Solar Plant Supervisor ×2
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Supervisor will be responsible for providing professional oversight of plant operations at the Lesotho Electricity Generation Company (LEGCO), ensuring strict adherence to established operation and maintenance procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee shift operations to ensure that productivity targets are achieved and quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Supervise the work of control room operators, power plant employees and other personnel assigned to the shift to ensure effective operation of the power plant.
- Direct and oversee the startup, shutdown, and operations of power generating equipment and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct periodic inspections of plant equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Ensure that generating units operate within all applicable parameters, environmental standards, reliability requirements, regulatory obligations, and recognized utility best practices.
- Analyse spare parts inventory requirements and implement continuous improvements in inventory control processes.
- Manage and resolve any operational issues or conflicts that may arise during the assigned shift.
- Collaborate with other Supervisors to ensure smooth handovers between shifts.
- Monitor the status of all safety systems such as fire protection and enforce compliance with safety rules.
- Ensure that necessary Safe Work and all relevant work permits are properly prepared and issued.
- Compile periodic reports (weekly/monthly/quarterly/annually) to ensure Management Leadership has up-to-date information for decision making.
- Implement maintenance strategies and develop maintenance procedures.
- Utilize latest maintenance management tools to ensure effective maintenance of all assets.
- Apply the latest maintenance safety technologies to ensure best-in-class maintenance safety performance and statutory compliance in solar plants.
- Develop detailed work packages from preventive maintenance routine (PMR) findings and corrective maintenance activities for all maintenance teams.
- Analyse and screen corrective maintenance (CM) job cards and burning maintenance issues for opportunities to perform root cause failure analysis to prevent future failures.
- Analyse corrective maintenance job cards, coordinate root cause failure analysis, and recommend preventive measures.
- Address procedural and equipment issues requiring engineering evaluation to improve maintenance practices.
- Attend to procedural and equipment issues that arise and require engineering evaluation and direction to improve specific maintenance procedures.
- Implement Power Plant Management’s procurement requirements for spares, materials and outsourced work.
Qualifications
Option 1: Postgraduate qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an engineering environment or electricity generation. Experience in solar power plant operations and maintenance, including supervisory experience, will be considered an added advantage.
OR
Option 2: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in an engineering environment. Experience in solar power plant operations and maintenance, including supervisory experience, will be considered an added advantage.
