Software Developer – Maseru Head Office
Job Role
Alliance Insurance Company has a vacancy for the position of Software Developer, based at the Maseru Head Office. Reporting to the Head: Projects and Innovation, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the development, security, and scalability of the company’s digital platforms.
The ideal candidate must have strong Java programming skills, a solid understanding of cybersecurity principles, and hands‑on experience with AWS cloud computing.
Key Responsibility Areas
• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using Java
• Contribute to secure software architecture and apply cybersecurity best practices
• Deploy, manage, and support applications on AWS cloud infrastructure
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise application performance
• Ensure data security, system availability, and compliance with internal policies
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on system enhancements and new features
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• At least 2 years’ experience in software development
• Strong proficiency in Java programming
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity concepts (secure coding, authentication, access control, data protection)
• Experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda or similar)
• Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Experience using version control tools (e.g., Git)
Added Advantage
• Experience in fintech, financial systems, or transactional platforms
• Knowledge of APIs and microservices architecture
• Exposure to DevOps or CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of regulatory or data protection requirements
