Rays of Hope is a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), which manages a large number of social outreach programmes in Alexandra Township (Alex) in northern Johannesburg.The NPC aims to enable individuals and families to improve all aspects of their lives, thereby creating a lasting impact on the broader Alex residential community.

Rays of Hope seeks to appoint an experienced Social Worker – with at least 5 years experience – to be based in Gauteng (Marlboro Gardens) to manage their GBV programme

The GBV Social worker will be responsible of the following:
Provide day to day technical guidance on GBV, developing case plans and follow ups
Build strategic alliances with all stakeholders
Take the lead in project planning and implementation
Facilitate regular meetings of the Gender task force
Act as the focal point for all gender based issues
Compile and prepare quality monthly project progress reports on time
Offering telephonic counselling
Facilitation of support groups for men and perpetrators of GBV
Facilitating support groups for victims and survivors of GBV
Giving the necessary support to victims of GBV with regards to reporting to the police, getting the victims into places of safety
Mentor and guide the project coordinator
Ensure monitoring and evaluation and reporting to the funders and donors is done on time and appropriately
Provide direct support and care for the vulnerable women and girls who are victims of GBV, including basic information counselling, assessments of survivors need and developing and action plan, implementing the plan, follow up and case closure processes in line with the GBV Standard Operating procedure
Support individuals in risk of GBV by referring them when necessary and in respect of their consent to other service providers e.g shelters and safe environments
Will be required to be part of various Rays of Hope meetings and events and any other responsibilities given by the Senior Social worker that might be far outside the above job description
Attributes
BA Social work
Strong interpersonal skills
Good self-management and operational skills
Ability to work with a diverse team of professionals
Current registration with the professional body
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Practice as a Social worker
Ability to function well under pressure
Valid driver’s licence
Computer literate
Previous experience would be an added advantage
Good written and communication skills in English, any local language would be an added advantage
Good writing report skills
