BA in Social Work including current registration with SACSSP
EXPERIENCE
Experienced Social Worker with a Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing staff and working with HIV prevention, counselling and management
Experience in managing psychosocial aspects relating to HIV would be advantageous
SALARY RANGE
Market related R40,000 to R50,000 per month, CTC depending on experience and education
Inherent requirements of the position:
Strong attention to detail and great level of accuracy
Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Competence in presentation and report writing
Knowledge and experience of the principles and practices of social work profession
Ability to establish and maintain professional trusting, relationships with other professionals, social workers, client groups and communities and other stakeholders
Facilitate workable relationships within the Department of Health and the various clients/collegial groups necessary to deliver the services required
Acceptance of ethnic, cultural, religious, and sexual identities as well as an understanding of the socio-economic situations client’s experience
Experience and understanding of PEPFAR funded programmes would be advantageous
Comprehensive knowledge related to HIV programs and understanding of HTS processes and HIV prevention
Experience in HIV and AIDS, TB, public health and health systems strengthening
Understanding of biomedical and behavioral HIV prevention interventions
Knowledge of Department of Health systems and HIV guidelines
Good communication, problem solving and organizational skills
Pro-active and ability to work under pressure
Emotional intelligence and ability to work well with a diverse team
Good command of the English language
Ability to travel when required
Valid drivers’ licence and own reliable vehicle
The Social Worker plans and organizes, staff and directs services to clients on a daily operational basis and ensure service quality through the service deliver process process. The Social Worker ensures high quality of services and protection of clients’ rights by guiding the social work staff in the development of their professional capacity to function autonomously and perform their jobs to the highest professional standards (for social work) and organizational performance requirements.

They will work closely with the program managers and provide strategic information and psychosocial support for all program areas.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Providing support to HTS Teams in educating clients/staff and their families on HIV and TB prevention and management as well as on infection prevention measures.
Conducting psychosocial assessments of HIV positive clients
Trauma debriefing (including bereavement counselling)
Working as a member of the multi-disciplinary case management team
Coordinating and facilitating training on HIV and TB and psychosocial support
Providing psychosocial support, including supportive counselling to HTS staff  (clinical and non-clinical)
Ensuring that district HTS teams conduct daily/weekly briefing and debriefing meetings with updated information on patients and frontline workers’ well-being and attend to those who may have special concerns.
Linking patients to external service providers when necessary (e.g. local clinics, Department of Social Development)
Liaising with community networks and partners
Conducting advocacy activities required to reduce stigma and discrimination against people with HIV/TB.
Compiling periodic reports
Performing any administrative duties as requested by the organisation.
Establish, strengthen and maintain working relationships with other partners/NGO’s providing similar services within program geographic areas
Work with the program managers to maintain all relationships with the DoH and satisfy all of their reporting requirements
Represent and promote the programme at PEPFAR, DoH and partner meetings
Prepare and deliver presentations at stakeholder meetings
