Nonceba Family Counselling Centre is an oasis of hope in the centre of huge township called Khayelitsha, just outside Cape Town. We aim to help children who have been sexually abused but you can’t help children without helping the family; so, any child, mother or carer can turn to Nonceba for help
 

The Nonceba Centre Trust ( The Nonceba Family Counselling Centre) seeks to appoint a Social Worker to be based in Cape Town.
 

Department: Children and Families 

 

Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Social Work.
Appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as Social Worker with the SACSSP.
Registration with SA Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP).
Knowledge and experience in trauma counselling, particularly trauma counselling of children who have been abused sexually.
Knowledge and experience in matters relating to the Children’s Act.
A valid drivers license. 
Skills and Competencies:
Counselling, mediation, interviewing and conflict resolution skills.
Communication skills (verbal and written).
Report writing skills. Computer Literate. 
A Certificate in play therapy will be an advantage. 
Key Performance Areas:
Conduct client assessments for the counselling clinic, the children aimed at identifying appropriate, relevant interventions.
Provide trauma counselling for victims of violence and abuse, particularly children who have been sexually abused.
Conduct awareness campaigns relating to child abuse. 
Compile reports and make recommendations.
Network and conduct awareness campaigns relating to the roles and functions of The Nonceba Centre Trust.
