VACANCY FOR A SOCIAL WORKER – POSITION IN CAPE TOWN

Ilitha Labantu is a social service and educational organization with a specific focus on addressing violence against women and children and supporting those affected by it. This is accomplished through individual and family counseling, workshops, skills training and empowerment, and acting as a trusted advisor in government and community processes. The client base is particularly focused amongst women living in townships and rural areas of South Africa.

Ilitha Labantu seeks to appoint a Social Worker to be based at Ilitha Labantu head office in Gugulethu this position is a full-time one-year contractual post. 

 EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Experience managing a project or program, preferably in social services,
 Be able to develop working materials
Experience working in programs focused on domestic violence and abuse, women’s development, or related field preferred.
Experience assessing program needs
 Experience with program reporting
Report writing skills
Ability to maintain reporting systems and monitor program goals
Good verbal communication and presentation skills
 Efficient planning and organization skills
Ability to facilitate workshops and trainings
COMPETENCIES
Ability to work in the field with people from diverse backgrounds
Strong inter-personal skills to liaise with senior management
Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.  Ability to structure and convey concepts in writing is essential
Reliable and able to meet deadlines
 Creative and analytical approach to finding solutions
High initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Must be able to work under pressure
REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work,
Must be registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions
Must have a least 5 years’ experience
Has worked in an NPO/NGO environment
Must have a Police Clearance
Essential Driving Skills (Must have a driver’s licence)
Own transport added advantage
Willingness to travel
LANGUAGE

Fluent in written and spoken English, Xhosa and any other language.
