Shout-It-Now (S-N) is a non-profit company, registered in South Africa, that has been active for 12 years providing a range of innovative community-based health services aimed at improving HIV prevention and care to achieve epidemic control among high risk South Africans.
Shout-It-Now seeks to appoint a Social Worker to be based in North-West Province.
S-N currently conducts programmes in HIV testing, PrEP mobilisation/initiation and ongoing support, facilitation of evidence-based behavioural interventions, and support for victims of gender-based violence. We also have experience in delivering TB screening, community-based chronic health screening and initiation of ART.
Reports to: Regional Social Worker Supervisor
They are looking for 2 experienced Social Workers, to join our team based in the North West in the following districts.
1 x Dr Kenneth Kaunda (Klerksdorp)
1 x Ngaka Modiri Molema (Mafikeng)
The potential candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
Must Originate from or currently reside in the North West Province
Must have a 4-year social work degree
Experience in GBV essential
Drivers and own transport advantageous
Mandate: –
To provide high-quality psychosocial support to clients and ensuring proper case management.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting initial assessments of children/ youth /adults clients, with an emphasis on survivors of violence;
Providing proper case management, documentation and procedure, including client exits and onward referrals; Providing mentorship and support to the Social Auxiliary Workers on the team;
Creating a personal development plan with activities to meet social and emotional needs;
Offering information and support to survivors and their families to enable people to lead their fullest lives possible, ensuring appropriate linkage to any necessary services, such as legal advice, victim empowerment programmes, etc.;
Maintaining accurate records and approving written reports for management meetings;
Liaising with stakeholders and making referrals to other agencies or health facilities;
Participating in multidisciplinary teams and meetings regarding Shout-it-Now programmes.
Performing any other duties as required by the Regional Social Work Supervisor.
Skills and Experience:
Matric is essential
4-Year Social Work Degree is a requirement
Registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP)
Excellent communication skills
Fluency in languages common within the North West region
Excellent interpersonal skills
Basic knowledge of HIV
Proficiency in compiling a report and case management
A strong customer-focus and a good telephone manner
The ability to work well in teams
Leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop staff
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Driver’s license and own transport is advantageous
