JOB PURPOSE

Support the delivery of the social media of the Membership and Growth Programme with a focus on helping to shape and bring to life AISA’s digital youth strategy.
This position supports the creation, curation, management and dissemination of multimedia content via AISA social networks (such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok), blogs and other digital channels, in support of the Membership and Growth, as well as the Media and Communications, Campaigns, and Research areas ensuring that AISA’s digital reach is engaging and impactful.

PROGRAMME PURPOSE

The Membership & Growth Programme is focused on developing and implementing strategies and activities that generate growth to harness people power for positive human rights change, whilst also inspiring commitment from current supporters, members, activists and volunteers, which feeds into AISA’s overall strategies to deliver human rights impact.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL SOUTH AFRICA PURPOSE:

Amnesty International South Africa is a national human rights entity that is part of a global human rights movement, established to address national human rights priorities as well as create the possibility for people in South Africa to join Amnesty International’s global human rights campaigns. Our mission in South Africa is to address pertinent national human rights issues through research and campaigning, and to empower people in South Africa to take action on issues that matter to them through AI’s international human rights movement; and to leverage South Africa’s influence regionally and globally to promote human rights domestically, bilaterally and internationally.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reporting to: Activism Coordinator – Mobilising  

Other Key Relationships: Executive Director, Finance and Administration Manager, Media and Communications Officer

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
Engages in social media presence creation on new and emerging social media platforms
Creates dynamic written, graphic and video content with a focus on attracting a youth audience (18-25 years)
Optimises content following search engine optimisation (SEO) and pay-per-click (PPC)
Creates content that promotes audience interaction, increases audience presence on AISA sites, and encourages audience participation
Assists with social media management of large projects, events and community management
Works as part of a team to develop large social media campaigns, with a focus on helping to grow AISA’s online audience and brand amongst generation Z
Analyses and reports audience information and demographics, and success of existing social media projects
Proposes new ideas and concepts for social media content
Works with marketing and social media team members to coordinate ad campaigns with social media strategy
Uses timelines and scheduled content to create a consistent stream of new content for audience interaction while analysing, managing, and altering schedules where necessary to optimise visits
Monitors the conversation on AISA’s social media channels and responds when appropriate
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Marketing or Social Media Marketing degree preferred
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook
Proficient understanding of social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok
Knowledge of online community-building techniques
Ability to create engaging material for social media channels
Experience in visually curating content for social media channels
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor communications to specific audiences
Ability to identify key trends and interests across social media channels and AISA social media audiences
Detailed-oriented
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong time management skills
You will empower and enable active participation of rights holders and supporters through the work of Amnesty International South Africa. You will further be passionate about human rights issues and social change.
