Dexis Professional Services (DPS) seeks a Social Media and Web Content Manager to support Power Africa’s communications team. The position will serve as a critical member of the Washington D.C. and Pretoria, South Africa office and will report to the AFR/AA/PA Senior DOC Advisor.

The Position will work at the Power Africa office in Pretoria, South Africa, and provide support to technical staff and leadership, performing a variety of complex and routine administrative and technical communication duties. The primary duty is to manage and develop content for Power Africa’s social media accounts and website. Other duties may include administrative-type tasks such as scheduling briefings and meetings, proofreading and editing, and ensuring brand compliance, to more complex functions such as website editing, press tracking, event support, network mapping and content creation and distribution with Adobe Creative Cloud (CC) software. The Position ranks tasks in order of importance and impending deadlines, and handles several tasks simultaneously. The individual must develop a working knowledge of USAID policies and guidelines, as well as corporate practices and procedures of Power Africa.

Responsibilities:

Social media 40%

  • Manages all Power Africa social media accounts;
  • Manages social media calendars, tracking and identifying content and influencers;
  • Coordinates content with Power Africa partners;
  • Stays up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications; and
  • Develops and implements social media strategies.

Written and visual content 20%

  • Develops visually creative and intuitive work products, which help the audience understand complex data and highlights Power Africa key messages;
  • Helps with proofreading and editing documents;
  • Ensures Power Africa brand compliance and provides guidance for partners;
  • Provides input on strategy for content and distribution; and
  • Contributes to editorial calendar.

Web content and design 20%

  • Supports website editing and uploading of content;
  • Contributes to the development of a web strategy;
  • Maintains the look, feel, and content of the externally facing and USAID-hosted usaid.gov/powerafrica website. This includes: content edits, updates, new sliders, stories, videos, fact sheets, updating data, etc.;
  • Ensures compliance of all externally-facing website content with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973;
  • Removes and archives content when outdated;
  • Identifies missing content, broken links, needed updates, or errors and notifying the COR or Activity Manager for approval of next steps;
  • Analyzes website traffic such as searches, referrals, popular pages, top keywords, etc. and produces monthly reports on website analytics and SEO; and
  • Maintains and updates Power Africa’s internal communications website, with at least monthly updates.

Events 10%

  • Arranges meeting space, speakers, and support details for internal meetings and larger external conferences. Writes letters to the speakers and participants, arranges hotel accommodations, coordinates transportation to and from the meeting site, and establishes social arrangements; and
  • Provides on-site support as needed.

Press Tracking 5%

  • Tracks Power Africa in the news and develops monthly media summaries, with specific media monitoring around events and campaigns; and
  • Supports press strategy.

Other Miscellaneous Administrative Functions 5%

  • Creates and maintains a spreadsheet/database of all Power Africa partners for both official partners and affiliates who will be key amplifiers for Power Africa’s work to education the public;
  • Assists with engagement and network mapping for strategic outreach; and
  • Systematically evaluates and improves communications operations. Uses formal procedures to track memos, briefers, press, social media, and coordinate other work performed in the office;

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of professional office experience
  • Proven work experience as a social media manager
  • Hands on experience in developing web-based content
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop creative content (text, image,video)
  • Excellent writing and copywriting skills
  • Familiarity with web design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Analytical and multitasking skills
  • Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
  • Proficiency in editing and writing, and technical proficiency in website management (Drupal, WordPress), social media marketing (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Constant Contact, Medium, LinkedIn, Youtube), Adobe CS (Illustrator, In-Design, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects), and data visualization
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a “Facility Access”
  • Oral and written communication skills and the ability to read, analyze, and interpret energy and communication related content.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

  • English fluency.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ability to speak French or Portuguese a plus.
