Job Title: Social Cohesion/Empowerment Specialist

Job Description/Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities of social cohesion and capacity improvements of the program (both at the administrative level and in the field), including oversight of staff under this specific component.
  • Develop annual social cohesion workplan and ensure that the plan is incorporated into the overall annual workplan and budget of the project,
  • Plan and Conduct Social cohesion training targeting various key stakeholder of the project at various levels (Community, District and National),
  • Develop relevant monitoring tools for tracking progress and data collection at the field level,
  • Conduct field visits to the project sites to monitor progress regarding project social cohesion intended outcomes and expectations,
  • Compile periodic reports (quarterly and annual) progress reports regarding the social cohesion aspects of the ROLL project across all project components,
  • Lead efforts to increase community participation in project activities and promote peacebuilding and conflict prevention.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree   in sociology, economic development, or other related field. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in combination with additional two years of similar experience may be accepted  in lieu of a Master’s degree.
  • At least 10 years’ experience working on the inclusive participation of local communities and institutions, local community ownership and contribution, building consensus and partnerships, and/or peacebuilding. 
  • Ability to creating robust corporate cultures that promote teamwork and trust building amongst the community members and implementing partners.
  • Knowledge of and experience with social cohesion methodology and approaches.
  • Facilitation skills and experience in engaging local and national governments to support social cohesion
  • In-depth knowledge of local and global evidence and practice in fostering social cohesion through intervention in agriculture and Livelihood Projects,
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in programme and project management, particularly in Governance, institutional development, and related practice areas, is required.
  • Ability to establish effective working relations in a multicultural team environment. 

Required Languages – Fluent in both Sesotho and English
