Scalabrini seeks to appoint a Social Auxiliary Worker to be based in Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town.

To support the social worker of the Advocacy Programme’s children’s rights project to reach project outputs and provide more dedicated support to vulnerable clients, especially children and families. Support intervention work and service delivery to migrant and refugee families and unaccompanied and/or separated minors. Assist with accompanying clients to Home Affairs offices or other bureaucratic related
processes, where necessary, and under the supervision and direction of our social worker. Assist with programme specific and general intake service of the Advocacy Programme.

NOTE: this is a Department of Social Development funded post.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Client intake
Case management
Support social work interventions
Report writing

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Social Auxiliary Worker qualification
Registration at SACSSP up to date
Valid driver’s license (own car desirable)
2 years working experience in statutory work (preferably in a child protection organization)
Good writing skills
Two recent and contactable references, one of which must be work-related
High energy individual, with a drive for detail, reliable, and able to work independently in the field and as part of a highly motivated team
Experience with refugees and migrants is desirable but not essential.
