VACANCY FOR A SKILLS DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING OFFICER – POSITION IN CAPE TOWN

Ilitha Labantu is a social service and educational organization with a specific focus on addressing violence against women and children and supporting those affected by it. This is accomplished through individual and family counseling, workshops, skills training and empowerment, and acting as a trusted advisor in government and community processes. The client base is particularly focused amongst women living in townships and rural areas of South Africa.

Ilitha Labantu seeks to appoint a Skills Development & Training Officer to be based at Ilitha Labantu head office in Gugulethu this position is a full-time one-year contractual post.  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Identify training and development needs within the organisation and outside
design and expand training and development programmes based on the needs of the organisation and the individual
work in a team to produce programmes that are satisfactory to all relevant parties in an organisation including organizations beneficiaries
produce training materials for in-house courses
devise individual learning plans
conduct and facilitate trainings
plan and assess the ‘return on investment’ of any training or development programme
consider the costs of planned programmes and keep within budgets
develop effective induction programmes for new staff, interns and graduate trainees
conduct appraisals monitor and review the progress of trainees with managers
create and/or deliver a range of training using classroom, online and blended learning
manage the delivery of training and development programmes
ensure that statutory training requirements are met
evaluate training and development programmes
amend and revise programmes as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment
help line managers and trainers solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups
keep up to date with developments in training by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant courses
research new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and present this research

COMPETENCY PROFILE
A Tertiary Qualification in Humanities
Has worked in an NPO/NGO working environment
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in training and development or facilitative (essential)
Record of accomplishment in developing and executing successful training programs
Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and related business and communication tools.
Familiar with traditional and modern training processes.
Strategic, creative, attention to detail and analytical problem -solving skills
Strong inter-personal skills to liaise with senior management
A strong sense of responsibility and urgency and the ability to deliver regularly on time
Ability to work under pressure
    REQUIREMENTS
Essential Driving Skills (Must have a driver’s licence)
Must have  own transport
Police Clearance Certificate
Willingness to travel
