SKI TECHNICIANS
Afriski Mountain Resort invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Ski Technician at its site at Mahlasela Pass.
Job Responsibilities
You will:
• Ensure all ski and snowboard equipment is serviced and repaired accordingly
• Fit guests with the correct equipment and set equipment accurately according to ski/snowboard specifications
• Ensure equipment rented for more than one day remains at the ski depot and is correctly labelled, or advise ski instructors of equipment requiring overnight storage
• Ensure barcodes are placed on all equipment and grade equipment according to quality
• Ensure issued equipment is scanned out and scanned in upon return
• Inspect all returned equipment and identify any items requiring repair or servicing
• Receive all visitors in a professional and friendly manner and provide excellent service
• Ensure no food is consumed in the ski rental area while visitors are present
• Ensure the No Smoking rule is adhered to at all times
• Ensure staff do not engage in confidential discussions in or around the rental area when visitors are present
• Ensure staff do not stand around chatting in the rental area
• Assist in training new rental staff members or ski instructors assisting in rentals
• Candidates who can ski are expected to assist in the Ski School when required
Requirements
• Above‑average verbal and written communication skills in English and at least one (1) African language
• Good hearing and willingness to undergo a hearing test upon request
• Strong listening skills to understand and carry out instructions correctly and accurately
• Good knowledge of all rental equipment
• Ability to set and fit ski equipment according to guest weight, height, and ski/snowboard experience
• Vibrant and friendly personality
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Willing and able to work overtime when required
• Smart, clean, and neat personal presentation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Honest, reliable, conscientious, responsible, and disciplined
