Shift Coordinator – Packing Hall

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

Coordinates the team activities to achieve plant safety, quality and production goals. Facilitates teamwork and helps build an effective work relationship with other shifts. Support teams in resolving operational issues and staffing resource issues. Facilitate training certification process on SOP . Manage daily operations, line efficiency improvements, process optimization, communicating, enforcing Unilever policies and procedural compliance and WCM activities to achieve departmental KPI’s.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

SHE – Adheres to Company emergency procedures, safety rules and regulations and eliminates potential SHE hazards in work areas. Conducts risk assessments, safety machine guarding surveys and the activities of the SHE Rep on shift.

Ensure that the medical compliance of all team members is up to date and that team members are adequately trained and assessed before operating machinery. Promote quality SBO card generation by shopfloor and capture accordingly. Update SHE board weekly

Quality – Monitors and ensure 100% CRQS/CCP/OPRP compliance for shift and escalate defect quality checks of process material, and finished products as per quality standard and takes appropriate action when process parameters are out of standard

Start up/ Shut Down – O versees the safe and efficient start-up and shutdown of the factory and e nsures that the various operations follow pre-start inspections, start up and shut down routines for all machinery in line with SOP’s

Operations – E nsures efficient operation by prioritising and allocating resources, confirm availability of WIP and Packaging material at the beginning of the shift for all planned SKU’s. Monitors p roduction plan and co-ordinates changeovers with the broader team. Ensures SOP/PJO training for department and update production boards daily. Leads WCM Autonomous Maintenance activities and maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace. Manage attendance and time keeping within the department. Face to face shift handover with the next shift

Technical support – Assists and coaches the production teams in diagnosing and interpreting multi-disciplinary plant problems (fault finding) to optimize production output. Escalates problems to the shift engineering artisans and helps them prioritize breakdowns and maintenance. Assists production and engineering teams with critical breakdowns should the need arise. Escalates problems to Unit Managers and Assistant Engineers. Drives the EWO process when line downtime is experienced

Problem Solving and Decision Making – Identifies downtime losses within the Unit and coordinates cross functional activities in resolving problems

Administration – Ensures production team completes all required documentation to standard and captures maintenance, quality, production information and process information on relevant data systems and displays information relating to the team on performance boards. Does hourly plant monitoring and completes shift handovers. Performs all related WCM activities and ensure teams captures tag on SAP. Ensure that all TK(Time Keeper ) entries is up to date for team and manages overtime hours worked

Leadership and Relationships – Promotes a healthy working relationship with the cross functional teams and escalates problems pro-actively to the Unit Manager/ Plant Manager. Support a healthy IR climate (shop floor/ union/ management)

and drive a high performance culture mindset with team incorporating wellbeing and teambuilding within and between shifts. Manage disciplinary processes when the need arises

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • N6/ N.Diploma: Supply Chain Operations / Engineering diploma
  • 3-5 years minimum Production experience
  • Computer Skills (Microsoft: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook; CRQS, SAP, QM, MES, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of WCM principles (AM and Problem Solving Skills)
  • Working knowledge of OHS act and lockout procedures
  • Communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

Advantageous:

  • Experience in Packing Hall
  • Experience in leadership
