Description
Under the direction and supervision of the SHEQ Superintendent the purpose of the position is to assist Management in the development, implementation and maintenance of SHEQ-related programs and systems, standards, and policies according to Minopex, client, and legislative requirements.
Introduction
The position will be based at the Letseng Diamonds mine site in Lesotho. The site-based work roster will apply but may vary depending on immediate site production requirements. Only Lesotho Citizens will be considered for this position which is also part of Minopex Lesotho’s succession plan pipeline.
Qualification Level
- Degree in Environmental Science or Health and Safety
- Certificate in Incident Investigation
- Certificate in ISO standards will be an added advantage
- Valid driver’s license code B, EB or C1
Experience and Skills Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience plus a minimum of three (3) years working experience as a SHEQ Officer in the mining industry and knowledge of plant operations
- Registered with the Ministry of Labour and Employment as a Safety and Health Practitioner
- SHEQ Auditors certificate will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of processing plants will be an added advantage
- Computer Literate in MS Office
- Presentation and report writing skills
- ISO 9001 Quality Management Training
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management Training
- ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management Systems Training
- Advanced hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and audits to identity at risk conditions and at-risk behaviour and enforce compliance with the Minopex SHEQ standards and rules.
- Guide management of incidents and corrective actions and facilitate incident investigations.
- Review quality of baseline, issue based and continuous risks assessments and coach line management and employees accordingly.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements according to Minopex SHEQ and client SHE Objectives
- Ensure the implementation of programs and systems across the Treatment department to create awareness and compliance according to SHEQ objectives.
- Review and monitoring of Minopex’s short term contractors HSE documentation.
- Monitor and report on all SHEQ-related activities and actions according to organisational and legislative requirements.
- Monitor legal compliance of the Minopex short term contractors to relevant Health and Safety legislation, Code of Practices and Safe Working Procedures.
- Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards, best practices, and related legislation.
- Ensure all legal appointments are in place, valid, and correct according to the required legislation.
- Continuously analyze SHEQ information to identify problems, and deviations and implement corrective actions accordingly.
- Ensure the implementation of SHEQ-related training and development to create awareness and adherence to legislative requirements.
- Support the function of Minopex sustainable development programmes
