Main Purpose of the Role:

Develop, Implement & Maintain the Aspen Pharmacare SHE Management System for Eastern Cape Warehousing and Distribution.


DUTIES:


Operational Activities:

  • Co-ordinate hygiene surveys and sign off survey reports
  • Co-ordinate corrective actions of survey findings and internal/external audits
  • Conduct and review baseline Risk Assessment
  • Conduct / co-ordinate issue based risk assessments
  • Co-ordinate preventative actions identified through risk assessments
  • Maintain legal appointment database
  • Co-ordinate SHE Training
  • Create, edit and review of SHE procedures, work instructions and standard forms in conjuction with interested and affected parties
  • Conduct pre-commissioning inspections
  • Ensure mechanical, electrical and general safety inspections are up to date as per legal requirements or company standards
  • Ensure all environmental monitoring is conducted as per company standards
  • Attend SHE Committee meetings
  • Sign Off of SHE Rep files
  • Conducts internal SHE audits
  • Following up and close out of non-conformances
  • Conduct visibility inspections
  • Conduct trend analysis for SHE performance indicators
  • Present monthly SHE stats
  • COVID-19 compliance
  • Onsite Contractor Management
  • Communicate with Local authorities
  • Conduct PPE and SHE Work Instruction training
  • Monitor any operational or structural changes, which may affect SHE Management control programmes
  • Investigating incidents/accidents in conjunction with line management, employee representatives and related processes
  • Advise and support line management in correcting deviations and non-compliances
  • Ensure emergency procedures and contingency plans are updated and implemented as directed
  • Ensures all PPE and related equipment are of high quality, right for specific applications, adequate for respective purpose and comply with specifications
  • Encourage and motivate a culture of a healthy and safe working environment

Human Resources (Compliance to Labour Legislations and In-house Best Practice)

  • Familiarise yourself with relevant legislation in accordance with the company policies and procedures
  • Promote diversity, equal opportunity and fair treatment in the workplace
  • Execute company EE plan, procedures and targets
  • Formulate and execute a Workplace Skills Plan in conjunction with the HR Department
  • Manage staff performance through the Company Performance Management program
  • Manage staff succession through the company succession planning program

GMP/ GDP/ GWP

  • Complete all records and reports timeously and accurately as described in the relevant SOP’s, protocols and associated documentation.
  • Comply with GMP / GDP / GWP requirements as outlined by company SOP’s and written instructions in all tasks and activities
  • Ensure that products are produced, tested and stored according to the required SOP’s and documentation

Health, Safety and Environmental Standards

  • Carry out any duty or requirement imposed on the company by the OHS Act and in accordance with your specific SHE appointment
  • Report any unsafe or unhealthy situations to the Head of Warehousing and Distribution
  • Report any incident to the Head of Warehousing and Distribution which may affect employees health or cause injury

Management

  • Manage departmental financial, SHE, HR and GMP/GDP/GWP responsibilities and activities
  • Plan, lead, allocate and manage departmental activities, resources and tasks in accordance with agreed budgets, service/delivery targets and daily/weekly/monthly plans
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems for operational management and measurement
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement plans and actions
  • Manage departmental absenteeism

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • SAMTRAC or equivalent (Minimum requirement)
  • Integrated Management System Internal Auditor
  • Risk Management Certificate
  • Advanced principles of Safety Management
  • Minimum 5 years SHE working experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience within a pharmaceutical facility would be an advantage
  • Contractor Management
  • In-depth OSH Act Certificate
