RESPONSIBLE TO : PRINCIPAL TRANSPORT INSPECTOR
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The incumbent will regulate traffic and enforce transport & traffic laws and regulations, protect roads from deteriorating, facilitate access to Public Passenger transport.
MAIN DUTIES
1. To enforce traffic and transport laws
1.1 Inspects and verifies traffic documents
1.2 Inspects motor vehicles
1.3 Issues inspectors reports to offenders (RTB 10)
1.4 Facilitates prosecution of offenders
1.5 Follows up on issued inspectors reports
2. To facilitate access to public passenger transport
2.1 Identifies new public passenger routes
2.2 Measures existing and new routes for statistics and public transport fares
3. To protect roads from deteriorating
3.1 Weighs loaded vehicles to control overloading
3.2 Issues penalties to operators in order to control overloading.
JOB SPECIFICATION
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
• Diploma in Auto/Motor Mechanics
OR
• Certificate in Auto/Motor Mechanics plus two (2) years working
experience as Transport Inspector
Other Necessary Knowledge: Must possess a valid driving license with two years driving experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Unfavorable conditions: There is a risk of being hit by run-away vehicles, humiliated by members of the public, being shot at and harsh weather conditions. There is a risk of sustaining injuries when using the printing machine.
