The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation invites applications from suitably qualified local candidates for the following positions:
Position: Senior Technical Officer (Plumbing)

Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal Technical Officer, the incumbent will prepare, maintain, and manage the plumbing systems of the National Library and Archives efficiently and effectively.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Plumbing System Operations
- Carry out plumbing works on a regular basis.
- Read and interpret plan drawings, technical manuals, and specifications.
- Recommend upgrades to plumbing equipment.
- Maintain and service plumbing equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Network with institutions offering similar technical services.
- Conduct regular inspections of technical equipment and machinery.
- Advise management on technical staff training needs.
- Carry out maintenance and repair works on plumbing equipment.
- Coordinate and advise on the use of plumbing appliances.
Planning and Budgeting
- Prepare annual work plans in consultation with supervisors.
- Consolidate and compile annual budgets.
- Produce reports and records as required.
- Recommend upgrades to equipment where necessary.
- Perform additional technical duties assigned by management.
- Be prepared to work under pressure and beyond normal working hours when required.
Qualifications and Experience
Option 1
- Diploma in Plumbing from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant working experience.
OR
Option 2
- Certificate in Plumbing from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant working experience.
Added Advantage:
- Knowledge of Sprinkler Systems and Fire Hydrant Regulations.
Other Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Computer literacy.
Working Conditions
The successful candidate may be required to work beyond normal working hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays when necessary.
