JOB TITLE: Senior Technical Officer

Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Principal Technical Officer, the Senior Technical Officer plays a vital role in supporting the technical operations that keep radio programming on air and running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Studio & Transmission Support
- Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of broadcast equipment including microphones, mixers, transmitters, and digital audio workstations (DAWs)
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine checks and scheduled maintenance on studio and transmission systems under the supervision of production engineers
Outside Broadcast (OB) Operations
- Participate in the setup and technical execution of remote broadcasts, ensuring equipment is properly configured and functioning
Audio Editing & Continuity Tasks
- Carry out basic editing and recording tasks using Digital Audio Workstation software
- Support technical radio continuity by ensuring smooth transitions between segments
Equipment Care
- Maintain and organize OB equipment, ensuring it remains in good working condition and ready for deployment
Emergency & Shift Work
- Provide 24/7 technical support, including working shifts, weekends, and during emergencies such as severe weather or system outages
Skills & Competencies
Technical Proficiency
- Familiarity with broadcast hardware and software, including audio consoles, transmitters, and editing tools
Problem-Solving
- Ability to identify and resolve basic technical issues quickly, especially during live broadcasts
Team Collaboration
- Work effectively with engineers, chief technical officers, principal technical officers, senior technical officers, technical officers, producers, and presenters to support seamless broadcast operations
Adaptability
- Comfortable working in dynamic environments, including outdoor locations and during irregular hours
Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Electronics, Sound Engineering, Broadcast Technology, Computer Engineering, or other related fields
- Prior experience in a broadcast or technical support role is preferred
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to technical emergencies
