Position Overview

The Senior Technical Advisor will provide technical leadership for the implementation of PrEP in the eMTCT project in Lesotho. Reporting to the Country Lead, the Advisor will work closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH), implementing partners, and stakeholders to strengthen HIV prevention efforts among pregnant and breastfeeding women, ensuring integration of PrEP CHOICE into maternal and child health services.

The position will be based in Maseru and may require work at other sites as needed.
The ideal candidate will have an obstetric background and experience integrating PrEP services into antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC) platforms, with a strong understanding of maternal health service delivery and HIV prevention strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, planning, and implementation of PrEP services within MNCH platforms in alignment with national guidelines and global best practices.
  • Work with the global support team to update the existing PrEP toolkit for pregnant and breastfeeding women (PBFW), including development and adaptation of training materials, job aids, and SOPs for healthcare providers.
  • Support the revision and alignment of clinical guidelines, demand generation materials, and training content to reflect expanded PrEP choices.
  • Engage key stakeholders, including the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Technical Working Group, for validation and alignment with national priorities.
  • Support the organization and facilitate training sessions for facility-level staff on the delivery of LEN as part of PrEP services for PBFW.
  • Provide technical assistance to MOH and other partners to strengthen capacity for PrEP service delivery in ANC and PNC settings.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including coordination with MOH departments, donor agencies, and community-based organizations.
  • Ensure quality assurance and continuous improvement of PrEP services within maternal and child health settings.
  • Contribute to knowledge management, including development of technical briefs, success stories, and presentations for dissemination.
  • Represent the project in technical working groups, donor meetings, and relevant forums.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Medicine, Nursing, or related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in maternal and child health or related technical areas.
  • Proven experience in implementing PrEP programs, preferably within MNCH or integrated health platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with government, donors, and implementing partners.
  • Experience in mentorship and health systems strengthening.
