PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To supervise the surveillance team ensuring optimal usage for relevant CCTV to coordinate access control into the plant and red areas.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE
• Diploma in Security Management, Risk Management or equivalent
• 4 Years’ experience in Security Access Control and CCTV Surveillance
• 6 Years’ experience working as security personnel in a diamond mine
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Oversee all the surveillance and access control activities in the Recovery Plant, PCC and Process Plant
• Continuously coach and mentor subordinates about surveillance, access control and diamond protection to ensure an effective and high-performing security service
• Initiate immediate investigation and review of any suspicious activity in accordance with standard operating procedures and operational requirements
• Ensure that all high-risk activities are undertaken in accordance with security practices and facilitate the approval of any deviations from procedure before any activity commencement
• Liaise with the Information Technology (IT) department to ensure that any system breakdowns and malfunctions are remedied timeously
• Periodically review the performance of surveillance operations, scanning of personnel in the PCC as well as controlling access into and out of the PCC and Recovery floors
• Analyse all surveillance reports and generate timely and appropriate reports for dissemination to management in accordance with operational requirements
• Review and collate all incidents and non-compliances and ensure that they are promptly reviewed, investigated and closed out
• Undertake comprehensive investigations on ay identified or suspected non-compliances and report findings to the line supervisor
• Follow-up on the feedback relating to actioning of camera checklists and ensure that all security systems are running optimally at all times
• Engage relevant line managers and supervisors to address detected non-compliances and process inefficiencies such as chokes and spillages
• Undertake on-the-job training of and continuously coach and mentor subordinates to ensure a high-performing surveillance team
• Interact with supervisory personnel from appropriate SMD departments to ensure consistency in workflow and processes between departments
• Report any non-compliances, security incidents and suspicious occurrences to the Assistant Security Manager in accordance with standard operating procedures and operational requirements
• Ensure compliance and adherence to policies SHE policies and that reporting, and close-out of incidents is done in accordance with SHE standards and best practices.
• Manage and control the utilisation of resources to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
• Undertake access control and X-Scann administration functions as well as induct new staff members and visitors
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Familiar with legal guidelines in terms of security
• Adequate knowledge on the criminal procedures act and precious stones order
• Familiar with law of Security Officers
• Sound knowledge of CCTV hardware and software
• Knowledge of Cimms online reporting system
• Knowledge of Babylon Access Control
• Knowledge and administration of Xscan
• Data analysis and reporting
• Information gathering and concise report writing
• Sound decision making , interpersonal and questioning skills
• Ability to plan and prioritize completing deadlines

• Methodical and rules driven
• Good communication skills in English
• Ability to produce concise reports that can be used as evidence
