SENIOR SOCIOLOGY/LECTURER

POST NO. 1920

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Lecturer OR Lecturer in Sociology with a specialisation in Criminology.

  1. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Candidates must have:

  • A Masters’ Degree in Sociology;
  • A B.A. degree in Sociology;
  • Have specialisation in Criminology.
  • At least three years of teaching experience at a tertiary level.

The following shall count as an added advantage:

  • A Ph.D. in Sociology with a specialisation in Criminology;
  • Have taken courses in Sociological Theories and Research Methods;
  • (iii)A good and sustained research record and publications in refereed journals.

The Curriculum Vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; specifying titles of publications, publication dates, names of publishers, and names of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorised into books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, book chapters, etc. and include the DOI or ISSN numbers.

  • Duties:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach and assess undergraduate students in sociology and to maintain publications of research articles in accredited journals and/or books. The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate students; participate in departmental and faculty tasks; collaborate with members of the department in research and publications; community engagement; and undertake any other duties that may be assigned.

  • Remuneration:

 The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.

  • Type of employment:

Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal.
