Senior Security Product Manager (TLS)

Fastly’s Edge Cloud provides unparalleled flexibility and performance, all within a never-before seen level of safety and code isolation. It allows our customers to build complex logic, on top of a 50+ Tbps network, all in a serverless environment. This role will be responsible for driving the productization efforts that will allow customers to use the language and development environment of their choice (Rust, Go, etc.), as well as to expand the functionality of our overall development environment. This includes keen focus on improving our customers DevOps experience through the delivery of a feature filled environment while building a safe, secure and highly performant runtime environment.

Successful candidates will have three main traits: product sense, leadership, and the ability to get things done. They’ll also be technical enough to truly understand where the complexity in features lies and to anticipate obstacles in the development process.

Candidates in this role will manage the end-to-end product lifecycle of Fastly security products including ideation, definition, development, and operations. You will analyze, identify and quantify opportunities for new markets, new product features and new product ideas and take them to market. This role reports to a dedicated manager who oversees security product management at Fastly.

As a product manager at Fastly, you will:

  • Convey your vision through product roadmaps, working closely with product leaders, engineers and other stakeholders, and participate in all levels of planning
  • Successfully lead product initiatives cross-functionally across marketing, design, engineering and other stakeholder teams
  • Champion our customers, making and influencing decisions about product features, functionality, design, and architecture with our customers at the center.
  • Develop pricing strategies for products, including cost analysis and competitive pricing assessments. Work in concert with sales and marketing to implement them.
  • Gather relevant data and metrics for a product, set measurable and progressive goals using data, and drive achievement of goals and metrics in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders
  • Bring to market products that users want, that solve a business need, and that generate profit for the company
  • Be an ambassador for Fastly as an advocate of the platform, a content author, a speaker and active in the standards community for visibility, credibility and a voice in the industry

What You’ll Do

  • Define and deliver a compelling roadmap that will meet our customer’s unmet and underserved needs, focusing primarily on our application security offerings focused on trust, with a focus on TLS.
  • Define and drive the vision and strategy for Fastly security products and work broadly across the organization on strategy to meet product needs
  • Anticipate long range issues and work with internal teams to maximize the value of our products to the organization
  • Gather, articulate, and understand market requirements around application security and edge computing
  • Gather, articulate, author and prioritize product and customer requirements in a form accessible to the engineering team
  • Contribute to technology strategy and vision, business development, engineering processes and quality and strategic operations to enable engineering deliveries

What We’re Looking For

More Specifically:

  • Minimum of five years of Product Management experience working on security products at a software company
  • B.S. in Computer Science,Information Technology, Business or related field
  • MBA from a top tier school preferred
  • Deep understanding and passion for X.509, PKI, TLS, data privacy & data protection, web and network security. Candidates with a threat-defense background should also apply if you are passionate about expanding your knowledge and experience into these other areas.
  • Experience with web technologies, content delivery, streaming technologies and Fastly’s network/application architecture a plus
  • Ability to think strategically and craft a compelling product vision
  • Ability to secure buy-in for new initiatives through comprehensive research, building business case and socializing
  • Comfortable with developing multiple pricing and business models including usage based, subscription, and transactional models
  • You have a get-stuff-done attitude, have great positive energy, and thrive in a fast paced environment.
  • You are passionate about technology, can keep up with the latest trends in the field and aware of how they impact your roadmap
  • Disciplined organization skills with acute attention to detail and ability to ask the questions nobody else has asked
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
