JOB SUMMARY
Key tasks: Determine socio economic problems related to road safety. These include data collection, accident report system accident information system and accident analysis.
1. DATA COLLECTION
1.1 Plans and documents computer file structure
1.2 Selects data samples, prepares questionnaires, and conducts surveys for logic checks
1.3 Conducts and designs studies requiring the collection, assembly and compilation of health, demographic, and traffic flow data
1.4 Uses existing method to gather data
1.5 Determines sampling methods to be used
1.6 Studies different methods of analysis for various surveys
2 ANALYSING, INTERPRETING AND RESEARCHING
2.1 Analyses and interprets research findings to establish causes of accidents
2.2 Presents research findings
2.3 Compiles reports on consultancies
2.4 Uses existing method to gather, analyse and interpret data
2.5 Provides the statistical input required in the design, conduct and analysis of major road accidents data
3. EVALUATION
3.1 Assists in the interpretation and evaluation of results of research projects
3.2 Reviews the reliability and the variability of data
3.3 Assesses the methodologies for collection of data
3.4 Reviews the effectiveness of surveys conducted
4. REPORTING
4.1 Formats data and develop reports, charts, tables and other related documents
and graphics to appropriate authority
4.2 Reports to outside statistical reporting agencies that compile national data.
JOB SPECIFICATION
➢ Bachelor of Arts in Statistics and Demography.
➢ Four (4) years working experience in the field of Research and Statistics. ADDED ADVANTAGES
➢ Knowledge of statistical packages (SPSS/STATA)
➢ Knowledge in analysing and interpreting road crash data.
