We are looking for a remarkable Senior Quality Control Manager to join DSM Nutritional Products South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
The Challenge
As the Senior QC Manager, you will report to and work closely with the Regional Quality Manager. Based in Isando, you will assure that DSM products are of consistent and high quality by managing the operation and development of the QC laboratory. Responsibility for timely analysis of raw materials and finished goods. Assuring the high level of service to internal partners (QA, Supply Chain, Sales). Representing the company during the audits. Managing and developing the team of QC Specialists.
The Position
The key responsibilities in this position will be:
- Supervise correct and timely completion of the analyses as per production and customer needs.
- Co-ordinate the cooperation with external laboratories.
- Cooperate and liaise with following departments: Production, Maintenance, SHE, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Formulation, Purchasing, HR, QC labs of other company’s sites.
- Supervise the laboratory analyses for finished goods, raw materials and semi-finished products according to control plans.
- Participate in customer audits (represent the company in terms of quality control)
- Plan and control yearly QC and external testing budget.
- Define and justify analytical investments for the site.
- Manage and develop the Laboratory Team in line with DSM requirements, define the needs in headcount and competencies.
- Strive for continuous improvement of existing solutions and working methods
- Other duties as deemed necessary.
Quality, Environment, Safety and Health:
- Execute the job within the applicable SHE and Quality structure and system, provide proposals for further enhancing the SHE&Q structure and system and contribute to ensure a safe and healthy working place for employees. Be a leader of SHE best practices.
- communicate and promote SHE & Quality standards in the laboratory (information, indicators, safety meetings, etc.)
The Ideal
The required qualifications, experience and competencies will be:
- Master’s degree in chemistry or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years related experience in quality control
- Minimum 3 years related experience in team management
- GMP and GLP experience from food or similar industry
- Experience in laboratory and team management.
- Fluent English
- Excellent team working / collaboration at all organization levels
- Highly developed organization and planning competencies
- Strong customer orientation
- Comfortable in making decisions and prioritizing based on analysed data
- Team player
- Ability to work in fast and busy environment with changing priorities
- Experience with MS Office, LIMS and SAP
