Sentebale is an organization working in Lesotho and Botswana to support some of the most vulnerable children and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. Sentebale hereby invites suitably qualified and competent Basotho to apply for the vacant position of Senior Programmes Coordinator.

Job purpose

The Senior Programmes Coordinator shall be responsible for the implementation, growth, efficiency and impact of the Sentebale programmes. The position forms part of middle management within Sentebale with the overall responsibility of supervising and supporting the programme teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Programs Director, the Senior Programmes Coordinator shall be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

 To oversee, coordinate and lead the department team;

 To lead and oversee partner relations;

 To identify and represent Sentebale in partner meetings related to the project;

 Ensure program area has been planned and is implemented according to the periodic plans;

 Manage programme budget in accordance with partner requirements and the Sentebale financial procedures;

 To manage and appraise the performance of their team and the knowledge;

 To implement programmes in accordance with the overall strategic direction of Sentebale;

 Guide programme implementation; promote knowledge acquisition and sharing;

 In liaison with the M&E department, implement monitoring and evaluation tools and processes;

 Identify growth areas; analyse and interpret environment, challenges, and outputs and facilitate proper responses;

 Track and assess programme delivery and compliance;

 Undertake regular follow-ups to activity delivery;

 Expand sources of report information;

 Prepare donor, periodic and partner reports and ensure timely submission of thereof;

 Assess and assist partner managers with programme reports;

 Provide useful responses to report outcomes;

Qualifications and experience:

 Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Social Work, or related field;

 Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;

 Experience of working with development organisations/ other organisations operating internationally; or a demonstrated interest in international development;

 Experience working across national and international teams;

 Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey key messages in a clear, effective way;

 Ability to multi-task and problem-solve across a variety of issues;

 Comfortable and professional in situations that require high levels of confidentiality or sensitivity;

 Knowledge of the development challenges in Lesotho including HIV/ AIDS and wider issues affecting the lives of children and young people;

 Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet;

Attributes:

 Adherence and knowledge of health, child protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) and education issues;

 Excellent record of working children and young people. No past allegations of SEA;

 Ability to function with mature judgement, tact and diplomacy ensuring that Sentebale Policies and procedures are consistently complied with at all times;
