What you can expect
Responsible for the sourcing of Indirect Procurement items for South Africa and Sub- Sahara. Secure supply which matches internal customers’ needs and provide competitive pricing for materials / services in assigned categories, thus ensuring material / service suitability and continuity of supply. Negotiate pricing for materials / services not covered by global contracts. Ensure best value through identifying the most appropriate supply sources. Core responsibilities will include the following:
- Coordinate and negotiate key supply programs across multiple sites, ensuring that appropriate contracts with suppliers are being put in place
- Ensure achievement of targeted KPIs (e.g. savings generated and recorded)
- Assure appropriate and ethical conduct in BASF’s dealings with outside firms
- Ensure cooperation, development and implementation of global strategies
- Develop, maintain and implement strategies for regional and local categories
- Ensure effective implementation of agreed procurement processes and compliance of supplier base and ensure requisition processes are documented and followed in the Group
- Implement and administer the purchasing policies, procedures and key supply programs ensuring full support and buy-in of Internal Business Partners
- Utilize Procurement tools and processes based on global procurement strategies in a business partner-orientated mode of operation
- Develop and implement measures to improve the preferential procurement element of BASF’s B-BBEE scorecard
- Continuously evaluate supplier performance and ensure effective and efficient supplier relationship management
What we expect
- University degree in Business Administration or similar tertiary qualification
- Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 2 different jobs in a related area (e.g. Finance, Sales, Supply Chain Management) and Strategic Procurement
- Strong analytical, negotiating and contracting skills
- Good IT skills preferably in an integrated system environment (SAP)
- High level of integrity and attention to detail
