SENIOR PROCESS CONTROLLER FIBRE LINE #3 (Grade 8/HRL15U)

Sappi Ngodwana Mill requires a Senior Process Controller to operate the Chemical Cellulose Plant processes and coordinate the plant activities on shift basis as efficiently as possible, ensuring effective performance of all aspects of the operating units.

This role reports into the the Shift Manager

The main responsibilities of this job are:

  • Ensure effective start up and shut down of the production equipment
  • Optimise plant status within current constraints (raw materials, and services)
  • Preform rate changes as requested
  • Responsible for the efficiency of the section and the areas of responsibility
  • Strictly enforce the Management of Change procedures for plant equipment, operating procedures and DCS software.
  • Identify deviations, faults on equipment and report to the appropriate trade disciplines for repair
  • Preform house-keeping according to plant standards and procedure
  • Manage the human resources effectively ensuring maximum capacity planning of all resources
  • Coach and mentor team members
  • Test and authorize newly and re-licensed operators
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environment and quality policies and procedures
  • Manage incidental, planned shut downs and break downs according to best practices
  • Review maintenance plans and communicate break-in plan
  • Ensure Master data feedback accuracy
  • Complete Planned Job Observation’s as per business process

The ideal candidate should have:

  • National Diploma Chemical Engineering or National Diploma Pulp and Paper
  • 2 years manufacturing experience in Pulp and Paper industry
  • Chemical Cellulose experience will be advantageous
