JOB TITLE : SENIOR PRINTING OFFICER (COMPOSING)

RESPOSIBLE : ASSISTANT PRODUCTION MANAGER COMPOSING
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of assistant production Manager composing, the Senior printing officer is responsible for typesetting, scanning of pictures and logos, on the job training. Supervision and recording of times.
MAIN DUTIES
I. Execution of the job
1.1 Makes page layout in accordance with a plan of the job
1.2 Sets margin in execution of the plan in order to have adequate space for binding.
1.3 Selects typefaces and size in order to meet customer requirements.
2. Manipulate data, graphics and photographs.
2.1 Designs and draw graphics.
2.2 Scans photographs and make colour separations.
2.3 Makes full colour layout and merge with text and graphics.
2.4 Produces (CMYK) positives.
2.5 Proofreads utilizing standardized proof correction marks.
3. Training on the job
3.1 Carries out the programmed of on the job training of apprentice to ensure acquisition of necessary skills required in printing industry.
4. Supervision.
4.1 Supervises junior staff to ensure that the work is done according to acquire standard.
5. Recording
5.1 Recording appropriate forms, the hours taken on the job and material used to facilitate costing.
6. Perform any other relevant duties assigned by competent authority.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Educational and Training
Diploma in Graphic Design plus 1 year working experience in composing section
OR
– C.O.S.C/GCE, certificate in printing origination plus 2 years as printing officer in composing section.
OR
– C.O.S.C/GCE, plus 3 years working as printing officer in the composing section.
EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of functions, processes, practices and attainment of high production skills in Apple Mac applications.
Must be conversant with standardized proof correction marks and different typefaces, should at least have 5 years working experience in Composing Section.
