Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position tenable in the Ministry of Health.
POSITION: Senior Physiotherapist (Re-advertisement)
Job Title 2: Principal Physiotherapist
Grade: G
Number of Positions: Six (6)
Responsible To: Principal Physiotherapist
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Principal Physiotherapist, the Senior Physiotherapist will be responsible for the management and development of the department, staff development, research, strategic support, monitoring, and compliance of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) programs.
Main Duties
1. Management of the Department
- Manages the daily running of the department and coordinates task allocation within the department.
- Ensures appropriate monitoring and adequate evaluation of departmental activities.
- Takes responsibility for the department’s budget.
- Leads, guides, manages, and monitors the performance of subordinate staff.
2. Development of the Department
- Develops strategic plans for the department.
- Develops departmental activities to ensure that the department meets its goals.
- Makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness and quality of existing programs.
- Facilitates the development of new projects and programs to achieve the department’s strategic objectives.
- Facilitates consultations with relevant stakeholders for program development within the department.
3. Staff Development
- Makes recommendations to the Director of Physiotherapy and the Ministry’s training committee on staff training and development.
- Assesses the effectiveness, strategic impact, and role of staff development within the department.
- Facilitates conferences, workshops, and seminars relevant to the profession and ensures that information is properly disseminated by representatives.
4. Strategic Support
- Facilitates the development of strategies to ensure effective implementation of departmental programs.
- Achieves departmental objectives efficiently.
- Maintains departmental resources.
5. Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR)
- Monitors the implementation of CBR programs and projects under the department.
- Explores possibilities for strategic and operational collaboration with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), CHAL hospitals, and health centres regarding CBR.
- Facilitates development and coordination of CBR programs in collaboration with relevant organisations.
- Facilitates the training of CBR workers and ensures that CBR reports are submitted to relevant officers.
6. Client Management
- Acts as a clinical resource in client management.
- Assumes responsibility for holistic client evaluation, goal setting, and treatment planning.
- Addresses clients’ problems effectively and efficiently within the area of specialisation.
- Assumes responsibility for client education and home training programs.
- Executes high-quality, cost-effective, and time-efficient treatment.
- Attends relevant ward rounds, clinics, and case discussions, and guides subordinate staff.
- Coordinates accurate clinical record keeping, statistics, and relevant reports.
- Facilitates problem discussions encountered by subordinate staff and ensures proper communication and information sharing.
7. Research
- In consultation with and with approval from the Director of Physiotherapy Services and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, undertakes research as necessary.
- Recommends areas of research to contribute to the achievement of departmental objectives.
Job Specification
Minimum Qualification and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy
OR - Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy plus two (2) years relevant working experience.
