Job Description:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. STRENGTHENING TALENT MANAGEMENT

  • Provide support to the People & Culture Associate Director in succession and talent identification for mission critical roles through the development and retention of key talent
  • Provide support to People & Culture Associate Director in development of Individual Development Plans and align to the Organizational Capacity Development Plan and Bonding Agreements reports.
  • Partner with Hiring managers in sourcing talented and diverse candidates for Grade Level 14 positions and below are filled within 60 days with high caliber candidates. Grant positions and emergency response roles are filled within 60 days and prior to grant start date.

2. MAINTAIN ACCURATE PAYROLL PROCESSING AND HUMAN RESOURCE INFORMATION SYSTEM

  • Accurately prepare, process and maintain records of payroll for all employees on payroll system (SAGE 300)
  • Maintain continuous outstanding report for labour distribution report
  • Ensure that employee changes are affected on the system- workday and recruitment done timeously with hiring managers

3. STRENGHTHENING STAFF AND ORGANIZATIONAL WELL – BEING

  • Provide support to the People & Culture Associate Director in facilitating employee engagement initiatives and collaborate with senior and line management to leverage Our Voice survey results to enhance organizational leadership, culture, effectiveness and agility. Maintaining good levels of staff and organizational well-being will translate to an increase in staff retention and child-well being
  • Collaborate with/support the P&C Associate Director in facilitating Staff Care and Peer Support interventions within the National Office.

4. PROMOTING ACCOUNTABILITY AND A PERFORMANCE CULTURE

  • Promote a culture of high performance and ensure P&C risks are regularly assessed, updated and mitigated
  • Ensure that all staff have signed performance agreements, mid-term reviews and end of year appraisals in place and on file.  Participate in coordination of periodic monitoring and end of year reviews in accordance with standards.
  • Provide support for Organizational development and change Management process; Roll out the new core Competencies which shall inform (on-the-job) capacity-building and individual development plans/initiatives, as well as the recruitment & selection process.
  • Provide support to the People & Culture Associate Director in facilitating the operationalization of management and leadership development programs for high potential staff. Equip high potential staff with the required management and leadership competencies to enhance the organizational ability to effectively manage people and programs.
  • Provide support to employment relations by overseeing compliance of disciplinary code of conduct. Partner with People & Culture Associate Director to capacitate supervisors and staff on employee relations. Act as secretariat to Disciplinary Enquiries, provide guidance throughout the process and ensure compliance with the policy.
  • Support People & Culture Associate Director with management of staff grievances as well as closing of Incident tickets management, recommend improvement plans and follow up on recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology or other related fields;
  • Post-graduate qualification in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology or Labour Law will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years or more of experience in the relevant discipline with at least 3 years at Management level
  • Proven experience in handling recruitment cycle, on-boarding process; remuneration & benefits; learning & development initiatives; performance management, HR Information Management; staff care programmes and employee relations to support all work units;
  • Proven experience of partnering with all stakeholders and staff to entrench the organizational mission statement, vision, strategy and the core values;
  • Proven experience of achieving organizational goals in a dynamic and rapidly changing organisation;
  • Proven working knowledge of HR Software packages to ensure effective service delivery with quality results

COMPETENCIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong supervision skills, including training, mentoring and teams’ support ;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report-writing.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Package, Statistical Packages, Microsoft Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, and ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds ;
  • Emotional and spiritual maturity;
  • Knowledge of Labour Laws and HR best practices ;
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills ;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing work environment

Work environment: Office-based with travel to the field
