Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds plc, invites suitably qualified, competent, self-driven and results oriented Basotho to apply for the following vacant Positions:

Senior Mine Planner (DU)

JOB DESCRIPTION/ PURPOSE

Responsible to oversee and manage the Mine Planning section;
Manage the life of mine (LoM) planning process which will be updated on an annual basis for budget planning purposes;
Undertake open pit optimisations, design, and evaluation work, calculating ore reserves according to economics, planning policies and legislative requirements;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• 10 years open pit experience (planning and operational);
• Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent;
• Sound Knowledge of Mine Planning, scheduling and pit optimization software such as Whittle, Datamine, Surpac.

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

• Organisational and Planning skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong technical problem-solving skills;
• Attention to detail;
• Lead, mentor and develop the Mine Planning Engineer
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices;
• Contributing to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives to enhance NPV and mining processes.

N.B. These are Mine based positions on a rotational cycle. Applicants must be aware of the remote location of the mine, approximately 130km East-North-East of the Lesotho capital Maseru, 360km South of Johannesburg. Being a remote site, we require our staff to always show courtesy and cultural sensitivity to fellow Team Members and the surrounding local communities.
