Senior Mechanic – Heavy Machinery
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanic to oversee the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery at our site operations within Lesotho. The successful candidate will ensure optimal equipment performance, minimal downtime, and strict adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy mining equipment (haul trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, rollers)
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and major component rebuilds
- Oversee hydraulic, engine, transmission, brake, and electrical system repairs
- Supervise and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports
- Ensure compliance with site specific rules and company policies
- Coordinate with operations teams to ensure maximum fleet availability
Minimum Requirements
- Recognized Trade Test Certificate (Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic)
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in mining heavy machinery maintenance
- Experience working in high altitude or remote mining environments (advantageous)
- Strong diagnostic skills with OEM software and tools
- Valid driver’s license
- Willing to work site-based roster schedules, including long hours
