LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN SOCIAL WORK 

POST NO. 1911 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Senior Lecturer with specialization in Social Development and Planning, Clinical Social Work or Social Work Administration.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Candidates must have:

  • at least a Masters’ Degree;
  • at least five years of teaching experience at a University;
  • a good and sustained record of research and publications;
  • evidence of service to the University, the Profession and the Community;
  • evidence of effective academic leadership;
  • a relevant PhD is preferred for a Senior Lecturer. Preference shall be given to candidates who have demonstrated knowledge of teaching and research in Social Work Methodologies, particularly quantitative research methods, and trends in social work education and training.
  • The curriculum vitae (CV) should contain a detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, dates published, name of publisher, and name of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorized into: books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc. and include the DOI or ISSN numbers.

Duties:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate students in Social Work and to maintain publications of research articles in accredited journals and/or books. The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate/postgraduate students; participate in departmental and faculty tasks; mentor junior members of staff; collaborate with members of the department in research and publications; community engagement; and undertake any other duties that maybe assigned.

Remuneration:

The University offers salaries and other benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Employment type:

Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable for Local and Contract for Non-Locals.
