Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Senior Lecturer
• PhD in Crop Science with specialization in Horticulture
• At least five years teaching experience at tertiary level
• Proven track record of supervising postgraduate students on their research
• Proven track record of research and publishing with reputable publishers, and in accredited journals
Lecturer
• PhD in Crop Science with specialization in Horticulture with at least two years of teaching at tertiary level
• Master’s Degree in Crop Science with specialization in Horticulture with one year teaching experience will be considered for local candidates if there are no qualifying PhD candidates
• Publication record in reputable academic journals
• Proven track record of supervising undergraduate students on their research project
Added Advantage
• Proven track record of generating funds for Higher Learning Institutions will be considered as added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
• Teaching a variety of courses in horticulture at undergraduate levels (for Lecturer) and postgraduate levels (for Senior Lecturer) in a typical Department of Crop Sciences
• Assist in the development, diversification and launch of new programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Supervise undergraduate research projects (Lecturer) and postgraduate dissertations (Senior Lecturer)
• Participate in the research and community outreach/development programs of the Department/Faculty
• Carry out teaching and conduct research in his/her area of expertise
• Write research proposals for funding
• Assume administrative duties if required to
• Perform any other duties as would be required from time to time by the Head of Department (Crop Science)
Remuneration
The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience
Employment Type
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and Two Years Contract for Non-Locals with a possibility of renewal
