Position: Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Horticulture

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Senior Lecturer:
- PhD in Crop Science with specialization in Horticulture
- At least five (5) years of teaching experience at tertiary level
- Proven track record of supervising postgraduate students
- Proven research and publication record with reputable publishers and accredited journals
Lecturer:
- PhD in Crop Science with specialization in Horticulture and at least two (2) years of teaching experience at tertiary level
- A Master’s Degree in Crop Science with specialization in Horticulture and at least one (1) year of teaching experience may be considered for local candidates if no suitable PhD candidates are available
- Publication record in reputable academic journals
- Proven supervision of undergraduate research projects
Added Advantage:
- Proven track record of generating funding for higher learning institutions
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach a range of horticulture courses at undergraduate level (Lecturer) and postgraduate level (Senior Lecturer)
- Assist in the development, diversification, and introduction of new academic programmes
- Supervise undergraduate research projects (Lecturer) and postgraduate dissertations (Senior Lecturer)
- Participate in research and community outreach/development programmes within the Department/Faculty
- Conduct research and teaching in areas of specialization
- Develop research proposals for funding
- Undertake administrative responsibilities as required
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department (Crop Science)
Remuneration
The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Employment Type
- Permanent and pensionable/gratuity terms for local candidates
- Two-year contract for non-local candidates, with the possibility of renewal
