JOB SUMMARY

UNDER THE GENERAL SUPERVISION OF PRINCIPAL LECTURER, THE INCUMBENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LECTURING; COORDINATION OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES; DEVELOPMENT OF PROJECTS GEARED TOWARDS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT; PREPARATION & MANAGEMENT OF PROGRAMME BUDGET AND SUPERVISION & STAFF DEVELOPMENT.

MAIN DUTIES

  1. LECTURING
  2. COORDINATION OF RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

 2.1Identifies regularly research problem areas relating to the Agricultural, developmental projects in order to address discovered problems or constraints.

  • DEVELOPMENT OF PROJECTS GEARED TOWARDS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

3.1Facilitates the implementation of in-service training for community development when need arise.

3.2 Facilitates and supervises on farm attachment of students and for the practical exposure as well as farmers training.

  3.3 Conducts on the farm and of the farm training to provide farmers with new developments in agriculture and to assist them to solve their problems as required.

  • COORDINATION OF PROGRAMME TEACHING ACTIVITIES

4.1 Participates in the implementation of programme activities by providing guidance and allocating course work in order to ensure effective implementation of the curriculum on weekly basis.

4.2 Compiles programme reports to identify the accomplishments and failures of programme quarterly.

4.3 Liaises with other programmes, institutions and other divisions of the Ministry to acquire mutual support.

  • PREPARATION AND MANAGEMENT OF THE BUDGET

5.1Participates in the preparation of programme budget to finance planned programme activities.

5.2 Implements and monitors planned academic activities in order to ensure that the budgeted activities are carried out accordingly.

  • SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT OF STAFF

6.1 Supervises lecturers by providing guidance and monitoring their progress so as to achieve programmes objectives.

6.2 Participates in the general disciplines of both staff and students within the relevant programmes to maintain harmony relationship.

6.3 Conducts performance review for the supervisees quarterly to ensure that the planned activities are implemented accordingly.
