JOB ADVERT – Senior Laboratory Technologist, Tebellong Hospital, Qacha’s Nek
Tebellong LECSA Hospital in Qacha’s Nek is looking for suitable candidates to fill the above position.
Responsible to: Medical Superintendent
Grade: G
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Medical Superintendent, the Senior Laboratory Technologist is responsible for the implementation of quality procedures, sample analysis, stock management, instituting safety procedures, conducting in-service training, validating and verifying test results, conducting equipment verification and troubleshooting, and contributing to the review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
MAIN DUTIES
1. Implement Quality Procedures within the Department
- Reviews internal quality control and external quality assurance for the release of reliable test results.
- Interprets quality control data.
2. Institute Safety Precautions
- Ensures daily that safety measures are instituted (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is properly used, benches are disinfected, etc.).
- Conducts monthly safety inspections.
- Orients newly employed staff on safety measures.
3. Trainings
- Provides in-service training materials to junior staff.
- Trains junior staff on test menus.
4. Compile Statistics
- Compiles data for workload assessment and inventory control and submits reports to the Medical Superintendent.
5. Management
- Heads the laboratory department.
- Compiles monthly reports for hospital management meetings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science.
- At least 5 years’ working experience in a medical laboratory.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Quality-oriented.
- Computer literacy.
- Leadership skills.
