Liqhobong Mining Development Company (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Firestone Diamonds PLC, invites suitably qualified and competent Technicians to apply for the vacant position of Senior Instrumentation Technician.

Job purpose

Responsible for ensuring the availability of the plant by maintaining the instrumentation equipment according to Liqhobong Mining Development Standards and by applying best maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

Under   the   direct   supervision   of   the   Engineering Manager the incumbent will carry out the following duties and responsibilities;

•       Minimise  shutdown  time  by  planning  and controlling allocated tasks as requested by the Engineering Manager;

•       Manage   the   Instrumentation   Technicians, Mechanicians and Helpers in this section and ensure they deliver competent work;

•       Participate    in    investigating    and    taking corrective actions in the event of instrument failures and or incidents;

•       Ensure that LMDC safety policy is applied by executing scheduled plant inspections;

•       Ensure installation and maintenance of Plant Control Systems;

•       Provides   input   to   project   coordinators   in terms of control system requirements;

•       Implements appropriate technological control solutions to ensure optimal process control and efficiency

•       Ensure    control    system    installations    are configured according to applicable standards and procedures;

•       Apply   instrumentation   theory   and   related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational control equipment of circuitry;

•       Assemble and test experimental and operational     instrumentation        devices, pneumatics  and    electronic    components according to engineering data, LMDC best practices and instrumentation principles;

•       Apply  good  fault-finding  techniques  on  all plc/scada   process   related   incidents   with corrective action;

•       Ensure compliance and adherence to SHE policies, programs, practices, safety standards and regulations;

Legal and other requirements

•       Police clearance and medical examinations of fitness

•       Valid driver’s license

Qualifications and experience

•       8 years’ hands on industrial experience;

•       A  relevant  Electronics  Degree  or  Diploma from an accredited/recognized Institution;

•       Experience   in   computerized   Maintenance management   system   will   be   an   added advantage;

•       Knowledge of pressure, level, temperature, flow equipment in the mining industry;

•       Knowledge   of   Microsoft   packages   (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

•       Strong PLC Knowledge (Allen Bradley);

•       Strong SCADA knowledge (RS Logix 5000)

•       Knowledge of industrial networking Skills and competencies

•       Organizational and planning and managing projects;

•       Excellent written and verbal communication;

•       Engineering background;

•       Attention to details/ detail focused;

•       Confidentiality and integrity

•       Supervision and coordination skills;

•       Ability to compose a variety of documents

•       The    ability    to    operate    mechanical    and maintenance      equipment      and      related components;
