Senior Instrument Technician (Environment) ( HRL 15U )
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Sappi Saiccor is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to provide expert,high level technical support to the instrument department, specifically relating to environment instrumentation in order to maximize the availability of environmental monitoring and control equipment
REPORTING TO: Area Engineer
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain environmental ambient monitoring outstations and ensure optimal functioning
- Maintain environmental continuous emission monitoring (CEM) systems and ensure optimal functioning
- Maintain environmental base monitoring devices (ECS) and ensure optimal functioning
- Complete modifications/projects according to to mill change management procedures, mill standard specifications, mill safety standards and the OHS Act
- Manage varied multi disciplinary plant modifications and project work from concept to commissioning and close out

Optimise plant performance and control characteristics to maintain high plant availability

Review equipment in line with technological advancement within the industry on an on-going basis

Fault find malfunctions of field devices and system components with the aid of loop diagrams and test equipment

Use DCS infomration to assist with fault finding and preventative maintenance

Install, maintain, repair, overhaul and calibrate a wide variety of industrial process/environmental instrumentation

Provide technical support to the maintenance sections including operations
KEY COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
- Planning and organising
- Problem solving and analysis
- Communications (oral and written)
- Technical Knowledge (Environmental monitoring systems, ISO standards)
- Safety standards and Procedures
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Relevant NQF level 6 qualification (National Diploma or related requivalent)

5 years of relevant experience within a heavy industry enviornment

Proven knowledge and experience within environmental monitoring and control
