Position
Senior Houseman (x2)
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Senior Houseman manages and cares for patients, assists in coordination of public health activities within the catchment area, and helps maintain a conducive health service environment in the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and care for patients
- Collaborate and review patient clinical management initiated by other healthcare workers
- Provide technical advice, guidance, and support to other healthcare workers on clinical issues
- Assist in coordination of patient management with other healthcare workers, relatives, or communities as appropriate
- Liaise with other doctors and nursing officers in the management of patients and referrals
- Prepare reports for submission to relevant authorities as required
- Complete all necessary patient forms, including:
- Birth certificates
- Sick leave forms
- Police forms
- Medical forms
- Death certificates
- Mortuary forms
- Patient claims
- Certify deaths in the hospital immediately when suspected and record them in patient charts
Qualifications and Experience
- MBChB / Degree in Medicine
- Diploma or additional training in any recognised speciality is an added advantage
- Credentials assessment by the Ministry of Health is required
- Registration with the Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council is mandatory
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience
