Position: Senior Houseman (Medical Doctor)
Responsible to: Medical Superintendent
Grade: J
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Medical Superintendent, the Senior Houseman manages and cares for patients, coordinates public health activities, and oversees health services in the hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and care for patients
- Consult patients and prescribe medication
- Review patient clinical management
- Ensure efficient service delivery
- Provide technical advice, guidance, and support to healthcare workers
- Coordinate patient management with other health professionals
- Liaise with Senior Doctors on patient management and referrals
- Prepare reports for submission to relevant authorities
- Maintain records and registers
- Attend ward rounds and doctors’ meetings, including presentations
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor or Medical Superintendent
- Produce monthly reports
Job Specifications
- Valid degree in MB ChB/MD
- Registered with Lesotho Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council
- Good communication skills
- Ability to learn and develop professionally
- Strong decision-making skills
- Computer literacy
- Commitment to work and knowledge of medical practice
- Ability to work nights, weekends, extended hours, and holidays
