Job Description:

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support in preparation, review and ensure timely submission of the annual operation plan/ budget of program/projects in line with donor requirements, partnership guidelines and update PBAS accordingly.
  • Prepare, review and timely submit donor periodic reports in line with grants agreement and partnership standards.
  • Ensure that capacity building in grants financial management for finance and Program staff is done
  • Monitor actual grant expenditures against approved donor line items on a monthly basis; alert management to any irregularities and make recommendations concerning the re-negotiation or approved grant line items with the donor government where appropriate.
  • Liaise with Finance Manager and Finance Coordinator with regard to grant/budgetary issues that need Donor’s and Support Offices attention or action.
  •  Networking with SOs, donors and other stakeholders on grants finance        related matters 
  • Ensure that all Credit and Debit SA’s related with Grant projects are timely processed and cleared
  • Follow with Support Offices for funding commitment on timely basis, ensure that refunds are done on time and manage all PBAs requirements of all grants
  • Ensure that all internal controls are followed and implemented by both Program and Finance staff.
  • Reviewing and Posting all held Vouchers in Sun systems to ensure completeness in transactional coding according to the new centralized database.
  •      Ensure grant finance audit preparation, review management response and monitor  implementation of audit recommendations 
  • Communicating with Donors and responding to queries from donors regarding financial issues relating to all Grants.
  • Ensures that Fixed Asset purchased by Grant /Relief fund are properly tracked and handled and reported regularly.
  • Track all Grant agreements and ensure that the terms and conditions are complied with
  • Attend and participate in daily devotional and weekly chapel

Qualifications:  Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

1.    Must have B.A degree in accounting or relevant fields.Requires knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and practical knowledge of financial systems and internal financial controls and procedures. 
2.    Requires at least five years related experience, preferably within World Vision. Previous grant accounting and budget preparation experience is preferred. 
3.    Requires good communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to make oral presentations in the donors’ language. 
4.    Excellent computer skills in Excel & Sun-systems software/Vision Excel/Info Q&A.
5.    Grants management certification.
6.     Demonstrated ability in supervision.
7.    Experience in managing donor funds.
8.    Good planning and organizational skills.

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment:  Office-based with planned travel to the field
  • Travel:  15% Domestic/international travel is required.
  • On call:  30%
